What Is Kinesiology Taping
What Is Kinesiology Taping?
Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive. Therapeutic kinesiology tape that can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions.
Kinesiology tape acts as another layer of skin. This helps to raise our own ever so slightly, which in turns allows better circulation to the injured area. This helps to reduce swelling and/or pain and speed up recovery time.
It is great for all skin as it is hypoallergenic, waterproof and sweat proof. It can help provide extra support without actually restricting range of movement.
“a great little extra tool that can be tagged onto the end of a treatment. “
Uses Of K-Tape
For Rehab – Many times athletes experience that after a competitive event their body is exhausted or broken, or it may be that a non-competitive athlete has overtrained, but in either case rehab is needed. Manual manipulation is important to rehabilitation. Using K-tape after a manual manipulation session can increase efficacy of your treatment more so than without K-tape.
For Alignment – If you have a tendency to slouch or have an area of the body that is not properly aligned K-tape can bring the body back into alignment.
For Pain – Most athletes tend to have lower back pain. After manual manipulation, K-tape can be placed on the affected area (using a different method or style of taping depending on the area) to decrease pain and discomfort.
For Competition – Most athletes tend to know if they have rolling ankles or patella tracking issues. K-tape can be put on the affected area to prevent injuries if the athlete plans to do an event.
